Dara Hi Dara, Well, the truth is, there’s nothing that you can do to ensure that you will be placed with the roommate of your dreams, however, there are some things to can do to help. Most colleges will send you a lifestyle and preferences form that includes some basic preferences such as if you smoke, if you are generally messy, when you go to sleep, when you wake up, if you like quiet, etc. Make sure to be very specific, and don’t be afraid to tack on any special requests or needs that you may have. First and foremost, don’t expect to be best friends with your roommates; in college, you don’t really spend a lot of time in your room besides sleeping there, so chances are, you won’t even see your roommate very much.
