Dear College Admission Expert,
I’m having a lot of problems contacting certain members of the administration to get some really specific questions answered. How do I cut through all that bureaucratic red tape and talk to a human being?

Hi Terrence,
That question plagues pretty much every college student at some point or another. It certainly can be really frustrating, and it sometimes seems totally impossible to talk to an actual human being, but keep on trucking! It actually is possible to speak with a human, believe it or not, and get some real assistance. In truth, email has really become the way to go in terms of communication. Many administration members are extremely busy, particularly during the Fall when they are processing applications. In most cases, if they are busy, you’ll just be transferred through to their voice mail, and chances are, your message will be lost in the shuffle. Most schools’ web sites have a administrative directory where various email addresses are listed. I would suggest you go there, and write a concise, brief email.
