Dear College Admission Expert,
I know a lot of schools allow students to apply for early admission. I’ve heard that applying early can increase your chances of getting in because you get looked at before anyone else. Is this true or not?

Priya,
The answer is; it really depends on the college. The potential perks of applying early are you get it out of the way, and you do get looked at before anyone else. However, usually those who apply early have been very successful in high school, and are fairly confident that they will be accepted. Also, something to keep in mind; many of the schools that do early admission require that if you are admitted, you must attend that school. So, I would only apply for early admission if you are 100% positive that this is the school you absolutely want to attend. In general, I would say that your chances of admission aren’t really boosted a whole lot by applying early, particularly if you are already a prime candidate. However, if you are sure that this is the school of your dreams, I would say, go for it!
