California State University, Long Beach is a rather large, public institution located in the town of Long Beach, California, and has a total undergraduate and graduate population of approximately 34,566 students. The university's graduate College of Business Administration is significantly smaller however, and is home to only about 300 graduate business students. Over 80% of the enrolled students have had an average of 7 years of full-time professional experience, and as a result of this impressive statistic, the average enrollment age is about 28, however, the ages range from 23 all the way up to 47. Approximately 12% of students enter directly from undergraduate school, while about 9% of enrolled students already have a graduate degree of some sort. The admissions committee does consider the amount of previous professional experience when reviewing applicants' portfolios. The graduate business school is known for its thorough preparation of future administrators through providing the basic foundation needed for positions in business leadership. The College of Business Administration offers degrees in the Master of Business Administration (MBA), as well as the rather unique Fully Employed Master of Business Administration (FEMBA). Some of the most popular areas of study include courses in finance, information systems, as well as marketing.

Admission to CSU Long Beach's College of Business Administration is extremely competitive among the students who apply; last year, over 475 students applied for admission to the school, and approximately 170 of those students were accepted. Eventually however, only about 135 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming Fall semester. The graduate business school's placement services are quite extensive, even though the majority of students already hold a full-time professional job. The office of career development helps students to optimize their portfolios in order to make moving up in the business world easier. The school has a wide-reaching network of national and international corporations that are constantly recruiting on campus, as well as a popular job-posting board on the internet. Unlimited placement services are available to alumni for an unspecified amount of time after they receive their degree.
