The Facts
Emory University is a rather moderately-sized, private institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church located in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. The university has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 11,500 students, however, the graduate Roberto C. Goizueta Business School is significantly smaller and is home to about 665 graduate business students. All of the currently enrolled students have had an average of 6 years of full-time professional experience, a factor taken into serious consideration by the admissions committee when reviewing applications. Perhaps due to this fact, the average age of enrollment is around 28, however, ages range from 24 to 38. Approximately 6% of the currently enrolled students already have a graduate degree of some sort, and none of these students entered directly from undergraduate school. The school is perhaps best known for its connection of theory to practical applications in the business world, as well as plenty of hands-on experience and case work. The school offers graduate business degrees in the Master of Business Administration (MBA), as well as doctoral programs in decision and information analysis, accounting, marketing, and joint degrees in law (JD/MBA), theology (MBA/MDiv), as well as public health (MBA/MPH). The school also offers plenty of work-study and internship opportunities, as well as foreign exchange programs with 16 countries. Some of the most popular programs of study include courses in the areas of organization and management, finance, marketing, information technology, accounting, customer relationships, strategy, as well as consulting.
Admission to the university's graduate business program is extremely competetive among the many students who apply; last year, over 1,530 students applied for admission to the school, and approximately 382 of those students were accepted. Eventually however, only about 170 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming semester. The admitted students had an average undergraduate GPA of about a 3.4, as well as an average GMAT score of about 675. The admissions committee requires all applicants to have a minimum undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.0, as well as a minimum GMAT score of at least 500. Students are able to begin graduate course work in either the fall or the summer, and are notified of their admissions status on a rolling basis.
The university's graduate business program has 78 full-time faculty members, of whom 94% hold a doctorate. The school is also home to 9 part-time faculty members, of whom 78% hold a doctorate. The average graduate business class numbers around 50 students, and most faculty members teach an average of 3 courses at any given time.

The school has rather extensive placement services that are available to current students as well as alumni for an unlimited amount of time after they receive their graduate degrees. These services include online job listings, career and resume coaching, as well as a contact database. The average starting salary of the most recent graduating class was around $74,078, however, it ranged from $20,000 to $106,000. Approximately 81% of the most recent graduating class were able to find jobs within three months of obtaining their graduate degrees.
