The Facts
Regis University is a rather large, private institution located in the city of Denver, Colorado, and is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. The university has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 15,110 students, however, the graduate business program is a bit smaller, and is home to over 5,280 graduate business students. The entire currently enrolled class has had an average of 18 years of full-time professional experience, which the admissions committee takes into serious consideration when reviewing applications. Perhaps as a result of this fact, the average age of enrollment is around 35, however, ages range from 26 all the way up to 78. Approximately 2% of the currently enrolled students entered directly from undergraduate school, while about 10% of the students already have a graduate degree of some sort. The graduate business school is perhaps bets known for it's emphasis on practical applications of theory in the "real-world," preparing students for positions of business leadership. The school offers graduate business degrees in the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Management (MSM), Master of Science in Computer Information Systems (MSCIS), as well as Master of Non-Profit Management (MNM). The school also offers plenty of work-study and internship opportunities, particularly within the MNM program. Some of the most popular programs of study include courses in the areas of accounting, finanace, database administration, nonprofit management, computer information systems, as well as ecommerce.
Admission to Regis University's graduate business program is fairly competitive among those who apply; last year, over 1,500 students applied for admission to the school and approximately 1,300 of those students were admitted. Eventually however, only about 900 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming semester. The admitted students had an average undergraduate GPA of about a 3.2, as well as an average GMAT score of about 580, even though they are not required for admission. The admissions committee does require all applicants to have a minimum undergraduate GPA of at least a 2.0, as well as significant professional experience and motivation. Students are able to begin their graduate course work in the fall, spring, or summer, and are notified of their admissions status on a rolling basis.
The university's graduate business program has 10 full-time faculty members, of whom 75% hold a doctorate degree. The program is also home to 160 part-time faculty members, of whom 75% hold a doctorate as well. The average graduate business class has around 15 students, which couldn't' make the students themselves more happy.
Placement Services
The graduate business program has rather extensive placement services which are available to students as well as alumni for an unlimited amount of time after receiving their degree. Some of these services include career advising, a computer job database, on-campus recruitment and networking events, as well as resume services. In a recent year there were several national corporations recruiting on campus, and some of the majors most in demand by these companies included computer information systems as well as accounting.
