The Facts

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is a rather moderately-sized, private institution located in the town of Troy, New York, and has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 9,066 students. The institute's Lally School of Management and Technology is significantly smaller, however, and is home to about 1,470 graduate business students. Approximately 90% of the currently enrolled students have had an average of 5 years of full-time professional experience, a factor taken into serious consideration by the admissions committee when reviewing applications. The Lally School of Management and Technology is perhaps best known for its emphasis on leadership combined with fostering genuine passion for the creativity involved in being involved in the business world. The school offers graduate business degrees in the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Management (MS), as well as a doctoral program in management, and joint degrees in decision sciences, technical communication, engineering, science, as well as information technology. The school also offers plenty of internship opportunities, as well as foreign exchange programs with 13 countries. Some of the most popular programs of study include courses in the areas of entrepreneurship, management information systems, new product development, operations management, as well as environmental management.
