The Facts
Creighton University is a rather small, private institution located in the city of Omaha, Nebraska, and is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. The university has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 6,000 students, however, the university's school of law is significantly smaller, and is home to about 474 graduate law students. The average age of enrollment is around 23, and it is rather rare for any student to enter directly from undergraduate school. The school is perhaps best known for its diversity of teaching styles and methods, as well as for its terrific research resources. The school offers degrees in the the 4 year JD/MBA, the 4 year JD/master of science in information management technology, as well as the 4 year JD/master of arts in international relations. Some of the most popular programs of study include courses in the areas of commercial law, corporation securities law, criminal law, dispute resolution, international law, taxation, as well as trial practice.
Admission to Creighton University's school of law is fairly competitive among those who apply; last year, over 1,282 students applied for admission to the school, and approximately 500 of those students were accepted. Eventually however, only about 162 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming semester. The admitted students had an average LSAT score ranging from 152 to 157, as well as an average undergraduate GPA of about a 3.5. Students are notified of their admissions status on a rolling basis, and there is currently no early application program in place.
The university's school of law has 61 faculty members, and students agree that they are very dedicated to their students and do everything they can to be as accessible as possible at all times. The school has a rather manageable student to faculty ratio of 17:1, and the small classes allow for plenty of interaction and discussion between students and their professors.
