The Facts

Drake University is a rather small, private institution located in the city of Des Moines, Iowa, and has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 5,000 students. The university's law school, however, is significantly smaller, and is home to about 466 graduate law students. The average age of enrollment is around 25, and it is quite rare for students to enter directly from their undergraduate education. The school is perhaps best known for its diversity of teaching styles and methods, as well as for its connection to the Des Moines legal world and it's access to legal research and resources. The school offers degrees in the 3 year JD, as well as combined degrees in the JD/MBA, the JD/MPA, the JD/PharmD, the JD/MA in political science, as well as the JD/MS in agricultural economy. Some of the most popular programs of study include courses in the areas of constitutional law, agricultural law, legislative practice, as well as litigation and dispute resolution.

Some of the employers who most frequently hire graduates include the firms of Davis, Brown, Des Moines, Nyemaster, Goode, Des Moines, Jag Corps, Blackwell Sanders, Kansas City, as well as Shugart Thompson, Kansas City.
