The Facts

Gonzaga University is a rather large, private institution located in the city of Spokane, Washington, and is affiliated with the Roman Catholic church. The university has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 15,000 students, however, the university's school of law is significantly smaller, and is home to about 628 graduate law students. The average age of enrollment is around 26, and it is quite rare for students to enter the school directly from their undergraduate education. The school is perhaps best known for its emphasis on public interest law and social justice, as well as for its focus on giving students practical experience in the legal world. The school offers degrees in the 3 year JD, as well as joint degree in the JD/MBA, the JD/MAcc, as well as the JD/MSW, all of which can take 3 to 4 years to complete. Some of the most popular programs of study include courses in the areas of business law, environmental law, public interest law, as well as taxation.

Admission to Gonzaga University's school of law is fairly competitive among the relatively few students who apply; last year, over 1,740 students applied for admission to the school, and approximately 574 of those students were accepted. Eventually however, only about 222 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming semester. The admitted students had an average LSAT score ranging from 150 to 156, as well as an average undergraduate GPA of about a 3.4. The school has a student to faculty ratio of 19:1, and while many classes are quite small, some students complain about their classes feeling cramped and a bit too large for their purposes.

Students at Gonzaga's law school don't seem too nervous about finding jobs after graduating. In fact, over 96% of the most recently graduating class were able to find jobs within a few months of receiving their degrees and had an average starting salary of around $46,893. Students are most frequently hired by various private firms throughout the state as well as various local and state government organizations.
