The Facts

Mississippi College is a rather small, private institution located in the city of Jackson, Mississippi, and is affiliated with the Southern Baptist church. The college has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 6,000 students, however, the college's school of law is significantly smaller, and is home to about 434 graduate law students. The average age of enrollment is around 25, and it is quite rare for any students to enter the school directly after their undergraduate education. The school is perhaps best known for its emphasis on real-world experience, its focus on civil and public interest, as well as its connections within the Jackson legal community. The school offers degrees in the 3 year JD, as well as combined degrees in the 4 year JD/MBA. Some of the most popular programs of study include courses in the areas of a certificate program in civil law, as well as criminal law.

Admission to Mississippi College's school of law is quite competitive among the relatively few students who apply; last year, over 1,136 students applied for admission to the school, and approximately 403 of those students were accepted. Eventually however, only about 183 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming semester. The admitted students had an average LSAT score ranging from 148 to 153, as well as an average undergraduate GPA of about a 3.3. In fact, over 94% of the most recent graduating class were able to find jobs within a few months of receiving their degrees, and had an average starting salary of about $56,980. Students are most frequently hired by employers such as international law firms, national private firms, as well as various state governmental organizations.
