The Facts

Texas Tech University is a rather large, public institution located in the town of Lubbock, Texas, and has a combined graduate and undergraduate population of over 26,000 students. The university's School of Law, however, is significantly smaller, and is home to about 683 graduate law students. The average age of enrollment is around 25, and it is fairly rare for any of the students to enter the school directly from their undergraduate education. The school is perhaps best known for its wonderful research resources, as well as for its rigorous curriculum and emphasis on practical legal skills. The school offers degrees in the 3 year JD, the 1 year LLM, as well as combined degrees in the 3 year JD/MBA, the 3.5. year JD/MPA, the 3 to 3.5 year JD/MS in agriculture and applied science, the 3 to 3.5. year JD/MS in accounting, the 3 year JD/MS in environmental toxicology, the 3 year JD/FFP in personal financial planning, the 3 to 4 year JD/MS in biotechnology, as well as the 4 year JD/MS in soil science and entomology. Admission to Texas Tech University's School of Law is quite competitive among those who apply; last year, over 1,550 students applied for admission to the school, and approximately 500 of those students were accepted. Eventually however, only about 244 of the admitted students actually enrolled for the coming semester. The admitted students had an average LSAT score ranging from 150 to 157, as well as an average undergraduate GPA of about a 3.5.
